Classroom Blog: The artifact I have selected to demonstrate one way I communicate with students and families effectively is our classroom blog. We have been posting an almost daily summary on the blog since the beginning of my first year teaching and anyone can access our blog through our classroom website. Students write the daily summary for me to post, giving parents a glimpse into our classroom each day. In addition, I write the learning goals for each day at the end of the post along with the homework assignment for the day. This communicates with families what students learned each day and is one way to hold everyone accountable for their learning. Parents have mentioned at conferences how much they enjoy reading the updates and notice if we miss a day. Such feedback, combined with over 1,100 views during my first year shows that this form of communication is worthwhile.
