Election Result (Student Representative)

Dear JUCA members,

From Akira Miyahara, President

As Mizuki Wyant of the University of Oklahoma is graduating, we have recently run an election for our new student representative.

It is with my great pleasure to announce that Megu Itoh of University of Maryland has run for the position and has been duly appointed new student representative. The exact date of appointment will be decided later according to the transitions and Mizuki’s official graduation. It will be executed no later than the annual NCA meeting in November.

Megu Itoh has served as President of Communication Graduate Students at the University of Maryland, and has professional experience with digital PR. She has expressed in her statement of interest that she will “honor JUCA's existing efforts and introduce new avenues of synthesis and collaboration.” Megu is also “committed to expanding our reach among graduate students and scholars through digital platforms…By improving our exposure, more scholars will have opportunities to submit and present research that will transform existing norms of U.S.-Japan relations and of the communication discipline.”

I am firmly convinced that we have a new student representative who is perfectly suited to our mission, and excited to feel Megu’s enthusiasm as our new student representative.

Congratulations Megu on your new appointment, and many thanks to Mizuki for all the hard work you have done!
