There are three downloads for this subject. Aimed at age 5-8 approximately, but the lessons are easily adapted and made simpler or more demanding according to age and ability of the children concerned insha'Allah.
Several pages of worksheets for a number of fun experiments (easily done in any kitchen) that explain the concepts of freezing, melting, evaporation and condensation: how matter changes state. Plenty of discussion points about water in Creation (snow, rain, sea, etc) and also explaining the Water Cycle. Includes one sheet 'what have we learned so far' assessment. Children must 'predict' outcomes in advance of the experiments then assess if they were right and also consider what happened and why. A few notes, suggestions and links for useful further resources also included.
A follow-on lesson from the above to make a project book. Older children can write their own text, using the pictures in this download. Younger children need only cut out the text and pictures and stick them down accordingly. Instructions and suggestions are included.
The download includes everything you see in this project book below (other than the world map which was from an exercise in the first lesson):-
Even if you do not make the project book, which ends with looking at the difference between the Arctic and the Antarctic, then this could still be a good 'follow-on' project from the first lesson.
The download provides all the information that an educator would need to present a lesson (or several) about people who live above the Arctic Circle, specifically focusing on the Inuit (of Canada, Alaska and Greenland) and the Sami (Northern Europe). Many links to useful online resources are given (text, pictures and video). Islamically acceptable pictures and a map of the Arctic circle are included along with suggestions so that a wall poster and project can be made at the end to include all the information learnt along with other activities to reinforce elements of the lesson.
An example of the wall project might be...
