These Ramadan presentations were prepared one at a time as each chapter of the Ramadan eBook was read to or by some children but they could easily be used independent of it. They could be used by a whole class and performed in one go, or privately by siblings or friends at home perhaps one at a time throughout the month of Ramadan. Suggestions are made where relevant for items or extra information that the children might need or might be fun to use with the presentations.
These are aimed for use by children around the ages of 6-8 years old.
Ramadan presentation 1: The Months - the lunar cycle, how we know the new month has started and how many days are in each month
For this presentation the children learnt a little song that lists the months in Islam and also used a picture of the lunar cycle (an A4 sheet with the image on can be found here to download/print off) to demonstrate with. Alternatively they could have drawn/made their own chart showing the lunar cycle. A second page has been included listing the months in different colours and a fun font which can be cut out and used in a project book if you are making one.
Ramadan presentation 2: Fasting - why do we need to know when Ramadan begins? What are the rewards for fasting? How should we behave while fasting?
For this presentation the children had drawn pictures of iftaar and suhoor to show.
Ramadan presentation 3: Quran - what is it about Ramadan that is so important that we have to fast during this month? The children tell the story of the first revelation of Quran to Muhammad, sal Allahu alayhi wa salam, in the cave of Hira, and the blessing and miracle of Allah's sending mankind the Quran.
For this presentation one of the children will have to know or learn the first few ayaat of Surah Al-Alaq
Ramadan presentation 4: The Best Days - Ramadan is a month of increased reward, it is the best month of the year with the best days of the year and the best of all is Lailat-ul-Qadr
For this presentation one of the children will have to know Surah Al-Qadr
Ramadan presentation 5: Eid - Eid salat, Zakat al-Fitr and celebrations with family & friends!
Ramadan presentation 6: History - the stories of the Battle of Badr and the Conquest of Makkah
Ramadan presentation 7: History (extras) - the stories of the Conquest of Spain and the Battle of Hattin
These were done slightly differently - each one was read out as one piece of text by each child. Alternatively these could be printed out and then used in a Ramadan project book or wall chart. Both texts are taken from the book.
