You will find on this page the link to an eBook/PDF file all about Ramadan teaching children aged between 5 and 8 years old. The book is written in a way that a child who is reading confidently could read it by themselves, or a younger child could have it read to them, or it could be used as a resource or reference for teaching either in the classroom or at home. The chapters cover the lunar calendar, the details of fasting and what that means, the virtues and benefits of Ramadan - that it is the month of the Quran and the month of barakah - as well as chapters on Lailat-ul-Qadr and Eid. There are also some descriptions of famous events from Islamic history that have taken place during Ramadan - the Battle of Badr, the conquest of Makkah, and so on.
Ramadan eBook (PDF document, A5 size pages)
Listed below are links to various activities that could be done with the children during Ramadan of a wide age range.
Description
Available in either black & white or colour, each page is based on a chapter of the Ramadan eBook but could be used entirely independently of it. Cut out the elements, fill in the blanks in the text (older pupils should instead copy out the text themselves!) and glue down into a scrapbook, onto a large piece of paper to make a wall chart or else make your own book. Below you can see pictures of the original project book made by a 5 year old using similar handmade resources (which were typed up and 'neatened' to make this download):

A series scripts for children to practise and perform little presentations about different aspects of Ramadan. Again, each one is based on chapters from the book, but they could be used independently of it. They were written for 2 children to perform together, but could very easily be adapted for as many children as you like or even just condensed into a single speech for one child.
A great project, which will last all year round. Especially good when learning about the lunar calendar and the months in Islam. Count down the days of Shaban till Ramadan, and then count down the days till Eid!
Lesson notes taught to girls attending Islamic Studies classes.
A picture of iftaar to colour in. To download, right-click on the image and save. Then you can print off as many copies as you would like to. Useful to use with the Ramadan project book or wall chart. Perhaps they could even try to draw their own version of the picture!
