Lodging
We have one 'quiet lodge' on site. This lodge will house the families and other Intentionites with a preference for quiet and chill activities and good long sleeps/naps. There will be no workshops in this lodge. There is a preference given for families of children aged 0-4 yrs, and people with health issues for private rooms. If you would like a private room or particular sleeping preferences for you or your family, please register. To register complete the form here or look for the heading :Lodges/Placement Pod on the left bar of this page under the title Participate. There is a kids dorm reserved in Lodge 1 for children aged 5-13 and their parents/guardians.
Daytime Childcare/Child-Centred Activities
We don't have the same organized daycare and playspace for children as was created last year, so it will be up to each parent to contribute play things that can be shared in the common area of the Lodge 2 / Family 'Quiet Lodge'. We hope to create a sign up sheet for childcare so that parents can participate in workshops and/or have a break from childcare.
Ideally we can create a time and space with parent/non-parent teams supervising and leading activities for children and youth (Ages 0-2, 2-5, 6-12). Using blocks of time, parents will have time to participate in workshops, or just have a break from childcare. This is an opportunity for others in the community to integrate with the children in our community. Please get in touch if you are interested in being a volunteer and have talents or interest in the themes, see below. Also, if you are able to contribute to the suggested supplies, please be in touch. Email: parentspod at tribalharmonix.org
Suggested Activities/Themes
Music and Movement
Sensory Exploration
Nature and Science
Please note: Providing these themes will be dependent on the community's ability to pull together the supplies. So, it's probably a great time to check cupboards and see what you have to offer the kids! Please be in touch.
Nighttime Childcare Hub
BRING BABY MONITORS AND WALKIE TALKIES!
We are asking all the families to bring baby monitors, and any walkie talkies that you have. The model is that we have a "nighttime childcare hub" with parent/volunteer teams taking turns to care for the little ones after they've gone to sleep, so parents can enjoy nighttime activities. We will try running this as a cooperative, so parent/volunteer teams can take shifts with childminding and be able to enjoy the evening events together. It worked fairly well two years running so we hope it can again as a cooperative exchange.
Food/Early Morning Breakfast
Do you have input about meal times and food options for children attending Intention? Please give us your feedback. In the past we have worked with the kitchen and other organizers to provide a continental breakfast at 7:30am. This option had mixed reviews and so it isn't being offered this year.
Another option for families is to make use of the cupboard/fridge storage spaces, and ask that you bring your own breakfast supplies. We recommend that you bring tupperware, and collect food items at the scheduled times in order to feed your children closer to your family meal times, ie., 7am, noon, 5pm. This has worked well for us in the past, as we found that children eat at different times than the rest of the community.
We welcome your ideas, your feedback, and your fabulous juicy suggestions on how to have the best time at Intention 14!
