1. WHEN TO ARRIVE
You can come to Intention as early as 1 p.m., December 29. The main critical activity on the 29th is decor for our spaces. Go to the rec hall when you arrive and help out. Please arrive no later than 6 p.m. for dinner. We understand that there will be late arrivals beyond that: find everyone in the rec hall after 8:30.
2. FISHBOWL DJs
We are still accepting applications to DJ at the Fishbowl Party on Thurs Dec 29 (first night of Intention 13), so whether you are an experienced DJ, or someone who has practiced at home but never DJ'd in front of an audience before (we have broken various performance cherries at the Fishbowl over the years, it's part of the tradition!) or anything in between... please let Fish know ASAP at fish@goatvirus.com if you would like to play and he will accommodate as many requests as he can. As long as you can dance to it, then he will consider it.

5. BEDBUG PREVENTION
The past year has seen the Zajac Ranch have over a dozen treatments and thousands of dollars have been spent on sniffer dogs and preventative measures to help resolve the situation. All their bed mattresses have special covers which prevent bed bugs from entering the mattress and the wood posts of the bunk beds have special floor contraptions to prevent the bugs from scaling them. Having taken all these measures though, it is an epidemic in North America and the camp is, like everyone, unable to guarantee it is bedbug free– even with all the preventative measures they’ve taken. When people enter, the Ranch they could be bringing them in with them and there is little they can do to prevent that.
The organizers recommend you do the following:
- Pack all your clothes in thick garbage bags. Keep them there. Do not put clothing on the floor. Pack your bedding in a thick plastic bag too.
- Limit your shoes to one pair for the outside and one for the inside. Stick both in the dryer on high for 30 minutes when you get home to sterilize.
- When you get home, heat all clothing and beddng from inside the bags in the dryer on high heat for 30 minutes. If you can wash your clothing too, that is even better. A cycle on hot in a washer might be preferable for some items, such as faux fur, which doesn't do well in a hot dryer. The hot washer cycle can be followed by a cooler cycle in the dryer, for delicate items, or hang to dry. The trick is to be sure all items get HOT right thru, and stay hot for at least 20-30 minutes. So pillows & thick blankets will be harder to deal with and will need more time, sometimes an hour or more.
- When you get home, take all of the clothing you were wearing at Intention off and immediately put in a plastic bag. Take a hot shower. Submit the clothes to the same heat treatment as everything else.
6. CHAINS FOR YOUR TIRES
Nothing kinky here... just the reality of city cars making it down 11 miles of forest service roads in the winter. If you drive to Intention, you MUST have chains for your car. Another option will be to take a bus, courtesy of the organization of Willy and Josie. Stay tuned for another email coming out tonight about that.
7. FYI FOR PARENTS RELATED TO BREAKFASTS
There will be dry breakfast essentials and fruits for you in a prepared package in the dining hall for 7 a.m. breakfasts. There will be no staff there, but the food will be there for you. Breakfast for everyone else is later: check the schedule on arrival.
