5. EMERGENCY CONTACT INFO
To CONTACT the camp from outside in case of an emergency call (604) 462-8305 and the office (604) 739-0444.
6. TUTU FRIDAY : FRIDAY, DEC 30 all day!
It’s Tutu Friday! Drum roll please....
Go wild humans! If you have a tutu, show it off Day 2 of Intention. Have more than one tutu? Bring ‘em, share ‘em, put a label on them with tape and a safety pin. If you have no tutu, there will surely be extras to share.
7. CONFIDENTIALITY
We will surely cover this as a group, but if you are the type to read all these emails, you are the type to remember, and help others remember, a basic community principle that we have at the Intention Winter Retreats: what happens at Intention that is of a personal nature is confidential. If I share something personal with you or the group, and you need to process it yourself, your choices for support are:
- me
- someone else who was in the group I shared in
- peer support
- professional counselling outside of Intention
- IF you can turn the situation into an anonymous situation, a close friend
In short, we have a container that is healing at Intention, and we all play a part in keeping the integrity of that container.
8. LEAVE NO TRACE & getting it all back
A reminder on behalf of the Leave no Trace Pod. A short TOP FIVE LIST of ways to prevent losing your stuff or having to chase me down later to get stuff back (and i can run pretty fast).
Make a list of all the things that you are likely to use outside of your dorm room before you go. This includes layers you might shed on the dance floor and forget about.
Make sure your name and number or e-mail are marked on everything of yours with masking tape or in the case of fabrics masking tape with a safety pin through it works well.
We will be recycling all 1,2, & 5 plastics, as well as all paper, so please note where those receptacles are upon arrival (should be one in dining hall, rec hall and lounge of each lodge)
While packing on the final day, check off everything on your list.
Before leaving, check the lost and found pile (often quite large) in the Rec Hall.

10. MUSIC ALBUM AND VIDEO AT INTENTION: INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE
Here is an invitation from Sami to get involved in an amazing art project.
Hi Intentionfolk!
I'm interested in creating a community-curated album during the time at Intention. It would basically involve recording interested musicians improvising on whatever instruments they play. Then, once it's finished, it would be awesome to make a short movie of people improv dancing to the music.
More Details for those Interested
Tracks would begin by either recording some kind of percussive beat or having an electronically produced dance beat. Then, different interested musicians would listen to with headphones while improvising on their own instruments (or they could produce some electro-bass-wobble on their computers). This process can be repeated again and again as more layers are added. Eventually, each original beat will produce a large variety of different tracks. Then, the different recordings can then be mixed together to create multi-layered tracks of awesome, which could then be put together into an Intenion Album that we can put online for free.
This is an idea that obviously needs support from the community to work, so please let me know if you'd be interested in helping out! Here's a list of things that are needed:
Instruments - I feel like these will already be there, but I'm sure many of you have little gadgets and gizmos that make awesome sounds. The more unique timbres we have the merrier!
Microphones/Recorders - I'll be bringing a field recorder with me, but having more than one would be awesome.
Computers w/ Audio Editing Software
Some tracks/beats you've already produced that you think would serve as a good basis for improvisation.
If this does happen, I'd personally like to also create a music video of interested dancers improvising to the finished album at the end of Intention. For this to work though we need:
· Dancers
· Video Cameras
· A Green Screen - not necessary, but could be awesome to layer in some animated music visualizers behind the dancing.
AAAAaaaaanyway, let me know if you're interested in helping out, and if so, what you'd like to help out with!
Best,
Sami
11. PASSION SHOW SIGN UP STARTED
Here is a call out from Passion Show Pod:
Want to perform a short skit / read a poem / sing a song / dance a dance / something else to share? We would love to hear from you before Intention, if possible. We would love to have over half the participants signed up before Thursday.
When you sign up, please let us know what you will be doing and your technical requirements and props (mic? chair? music stand? guitar amp? cable? ... please be as specific as possible). Please keep your performance / share to under 5 minutes, to allow time for as many people as possible. And, if it can be shorter and just as effective / relevant, then that means more time for others. Practice mindfulness AND don't be shy, share what ya got!
Not sure / ready? We will be having an improv jam on the day of the Passion Show (probably right after lunch), so come out and play! Even if you have no idea what you want to do! You can do something collaborative with others who show up to the jam!
Passion Show is just the beginning! For the remainder of Intention, we will have the live music setup in the dining hall which can be used for reciting a poem or whatever other spontaneous sharing you would like to do!
12. SOUND POD CALLOUT
for those of you who are there for the whole retreat at Intention 13 this year...
if anyone is willing to volunteer for a SOUND SYSTEM watching shift, please let me know! you just need to stay "on duty" and make sure things go smooth during DJ changeovers... and watch for redlining on the mixer or poweramps and correct as needed. this applies for Dec 30 (Fishbowl party), Dec 31 (Uptemple party) and Jan 1 (Temple of Intention)
Please e-mail Fish & Briden asap at geartech at tribalharmonix.org if you can take a shift
13. TRIBAL MARKET VENDORS
The Intention Tribal Market is happening again this year! Support your community artisans by checking out their wares from 10:30-12:30 on the party night, in the dinning hall. Enjoy live music while shopping for ethically traded and handmade clothing, accessories, jewelry, art, sacred objects, and tasty treats. Prices will range from $1-$300 so remember to bring some cash so you have to pass up on a treasure.
14. Driver Note
Weather forcasts say no snow, and reports from the camp are that the road is clear, BUT people should be reminded that it's a gravel road, and that although it's due to be grated tomorrow or thursday, it's quite muddy & people should CHECK THEIR TIRES. Also, bring those chains in case we see snow all weekend.
BALD TIRES = BAD IDEA
15. Sound systems wanted for workshop spaces
If you have a simple portable stereo, they would be well put to use in the lodges for workshops. If you bring one, find Lisa Hardin at camp and she will tell you where they are needed.
16. For those on bus, it leaves at 1, Safeway Parking Lot at Broadway and Commercial, $30
That's all! See all of you amazing peeps in Maple Ridge in a few short days!!!
