1. FISHBOWL DJs
We are still accepting applications to DJ at the Fishbowl Party on Friday Dec 30 (second night of Intention 13), so whether you are an experienced DJ, or someone who has practiced at home but never DJ'd in front of an audience before (we have broken various performance cherries at the Fishbowl over the years, it's part of the tradition!) or anything in between... please let Fish know ASAP at fish@goatvirus.com if you would like to play and he will accommodate as many requests as he can. As long as you can dance to it, then he will consider it.
2. DECOR CALL OUT
Decor of the dance area is planned by a core team before the event but done by ALL who attend. It is a massive job and so lovely when it’s all done. You will want to know you played a hand in making it happen. This year’s design will feature a Mayan temple as well as altars honoring the different types of love.
If you have any of the following items to offer to our decor team, you are most welcome to bring them.
(***please identify all personal items with your name-masking tape works great but please safety pin it to your fabrics***)
christmas lights, esp LED lights
fabrics (curtains, wall hangings, solid colour bedsheets, other) to adorn the temple walls, especially black, white, grey, purple
FUN FUR in large pieces
altar items (crystals, feathers, talismans, personal power items, photos, protection items, nature artifacts)
Small folding tables
LED candles
Electric lamps
Extension cords
Fuzzy soft furry cushions, pillows, foams
Stuffed animals/puppets
Board Games
Fun, funky lamps, lava lamps
Fun cusions
Bamboo
Old CDs and large feathers, for decorating dream catchers
Altar items
It may be possible to co-ordinate transportation of larger items with the cube van, co-ordinated by Erin and Kerry: transport@tribalharmonix.org
We are also looking for someone to coordinate decorating the dining room, personal space, peer support, and meditation spaces.
3. MORE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We are looking for volunteers for help with various things:
A. Transportation: We need people to help pick things up on December 28. Our transport pod leads are both women this time... that’s cool, and they’re cool, but let’s bring out some valiant gentlemen with good backs to help with the heavy leaden stuff.
B. Transportation: We need people to help return things on January 2 and 3. Email Kerry and Erin at transport@tribalharmonix.org to volunteer and be fabulous.
C. Sound tech support: We need people to help with the sound system. Even if you don’t know what to do, but have interest in learning, contact our Tech/Gear pod, geartech@tribalharmonix.org
D. Tech support: We need people to help workshop leaders with their equipment needs. Email Sobey at workshops@tribalharmonix.org.
E. Passion show: We need a stage manager to assist with running the Passion Show. Email Christopher at passionshow@tribalharmonix.org.
4. PASSION SHOW : FRIDAY DEC 30, 8:30 PM
It is our Intention to have a cabaret filled with diverse talented expression. What is your passion that you want to share? We LOVE witnessing people do what they love… and we would love to see you perform a skit, tell a joke, do a dance, sing a song, interact with the audience, play a saw, whatever your passion is. Start thinking about it, bring some costumes, equipment, or instruments, and let's make this the most memorable cabaret Intention has ever seen.
If you know you’d like to perform, we’d greatly appreciate your sign up ahead of time. Acts will be limited in time to five minutes, so don't prepare anything longer. Please get in touch with Christopher, if you have any questions or want to sign up at passionshow@tribalharmonix.org. We hope to see you go all-out!
5. MORE MONEY NEEDED FOR SUBSIDIES
Every year we try to accommodate subsidy requests for attendees for whom the registration fees are a disproportionate burden to their finances. People self-declare their need. Last year, we were able to meet all requests. This year we are still short in being able to meet everyone’s request. For people that made an request, if you can do with less, please let Michael B know at registration@tribalharmonix.org. For people that may be able to donate funds to support the community in this way, also email Michael.
6. WORLD AND COMMUNITY IMAGES
Your Intentional images wanted!
This year at Intention 13, we are compiling images and videos to present during the party nights. If you have images that represent world events or the Tribal Harmonix community, please email Sobey at sobeyone@gmail.com. The images are best put on flashdrive or on cdr.
7. FIRST AID
If you have a first aid certification and would be willing to take coverage for small shifts of the event, please contact Kerry at firstaid@tribalharmonix.org or 604 771-1604. This is a roaming position where, for a shift, you would be on call for the medical needs of the 120 people sharing space with you. We are also looking for a Level 3 First Aid kit: if anyone maintains one that they could bring to the retreat, please let Kerry know.
8. PERSONAL STEREO LOANS
If anyone on this list has the ability to lend us (or even rent us, if need be) small sound systems (with CD player, and input for iPod, input for mic too would be nice) for the three lodges, for workshops, that would be awesome! Please let Briden know ASAP at geartech@tribalharmonix.org
9. BLACK LIGHT LOANS
We can save some money if we can get black lights lent to us. Please let us know by THURSDAY if you have any you are willing to lend us for our dance space.
10. WALKIE TALKIES FOR PARENTS
We have several families that want to keep in touch with each other via walkie talkies. If you have a set you can lend to the parent’s lodge, please bring them and find Julia Saunders when you arrive.
More emails, including directions to the retreat, will follow for participants. Have a wonderful solstice everyone!
