General notes
VERSES, FELIX ONLY: I believe that Felix should be the only person singing into the microphone for songs with verses and a chorus. Everyone else SING, but not into mic.
PLUCK VS BRRRAHM! Guitarists-- On soft parts, do more hitting of individual notes, not hard strumming chords. For parts with strumming, work on proper groove.
ALL INTROS are tentative. Depends on sets and flow of service.
HARMONIES: Last night we got to feel out how all the songs sound with everyone together. For next week, be confident of harmony lines you want to sing. Harmony lines have been written & provided on Good Fri page. Click link, play, listen!
Individual Songs
When I Survey - Oh Wonderful
Intro: Will by fuzzy and a bit unpredictable. Watch & follow me! Jesus too, but definitely me on this one.
Elec guitarists: Make sure to keep "D" and "Dsus" spots distinct as you pluck notes.
Acoustic: Only play on choruses for this song
Transition quickly into next song - 'Thank you for... Worthy Is'
Thank you for... Worthy Is
Intro: "The Son of Heaven"
Felix starts, rest of vocalists come in half-way through first verse
Do "Digno eres Senor" = 3X at end, it's not written like that.
Nothing But the Blood
Key of E into F
This hymn is overall in 4/4, but there are a few 2/4 bars that seem to throw rhythm off. Be aware.
“White as snow” - Snow = 4 beats!
Juanito: Work on your riff, boy! In key of E and key of F!
Don't play riff unless you're100% sure about it.
Third verse quiet.
Key change for second half! Be ready for it.
In Christ Alone (**practice priority for Fri**)
Slower, easier tempo than last time.
Everyone sing at all times
Guitars at beginning-- single notes, no chords or strumming. Consider where maybe you should not play.
We’re going to slow this down big time -- to a metronome marking of about 65.
Got correct intro and midtro chords written in? Amin, G, D.
This song keeps moving! No long pauses.
What else?
De Tal Manera
Felix starts; rest of vocalists start at second "De tal manera"
Ending: Careful, instruments! Bmin for 8 beats, then G, A, D
End with "Te seguire"
Jesus Messiah
Intro: Whole chorus, everyone playing strong
Felix only enters, everyone else on chorus
V 1: Instrumentalists only hit chords, no strumming.
V 2- Pulsing feel- acoustic, rhythm, and piano should match drums.
Bridge: two times.
First time: C Dsus (1-2-3- ) "All our hope!"
Second time: C Dsus D (release)
Ending- end on C chord, not G.
Cornerstone
Soft parts seem a bit dead. Recommendations esp at beginning--
Intro: Listen carefully to recording to hear what guitarists are doing. They're doing neat stuff! Can some of you incorporate just... more??
Leo, steady eighth notes like at beginning of Forever Reign.
More soft percussion. No it's not in recording, but it might help us.
Bass thumping- eighth notes- that will continue to help.
Vocals-
Verses- all sing on melody, not into mic though.
Chorus first time- all on melody
Subsequent choruses- girls harmony. Listen on Noteflight clip posted on page, please.
(Click) faultless stand!
Elec guitar -- Don't play solo riff unless you're 100% sure of it
Glorious Day (**practice priority for Fri**)
Felix only into microphone on all verses.
Intro, v 1 half- only keyboard and piano.
V 1, second half- Only hit chords
Bridge - Ladies
