Handicrafts were taught, including woodwork, basket making and lamp shades.

Notice the picture of a BOAC Comet on the wall, this helps to date the photograph and prospectus as 1952/53. The de Havilland Comet began test flights in 1949 and entered service with BOAC in May 1952 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Havilland_Comet

 During 1953 and 1954 there were some fatal accidents and the Comet was withdrawn from service, and in subsequent editions of the school prospectus the picture and wallpaper were 'painted' out of the photograph.
