Note that this photograph was in my Grandmother Elsa (Steltenpohl) Hindman's effects.
Her mother was the sister to Herman George Stelljes.

Herman George Stelljes is the brother to Anna Maria Stelljes (married Henry Steltenpohl).
Margaret Stelljes (June 7, 1893 Palmer, KS - June 14, 1986 Lewiston, ID)
Margaret is the daughter of Herman George and Gesche Stelljes (see picture above).
This picture postcard was sent from Margaret to my grandmother Elsa (Steltenpohl) Hindman
in 1915. She admonished my grandmother for not writing more often!

The dog's name was most likely ol' Ring.
Herman and George are the brothers to my great-grandmother Anna (Stelljes) Steltenpohl.
The Herman Stelljes family is also featured in numerous photos, above.
Georg Stellyes changed his name from Stelljes to Stellyes. That is why the names are different.
Other Notes about the spelling of names...
Dehning has also been spelled Denning and Demming.
Dammann has also been spelled Dammen.
I have it on good authority that Dehning and Dammann is correct.
Previous Mystery Photo Solved!
For the longest time, we weren't entirely sure who the cousin was that visited
my grandmother in the late 1960s. Initially, we thought it was Carl Earnest Stellyes (son of George) and wife Reta.
But I have learned (Febr 2017) that it is Richard Reith and wife Martha.
In the front is my dad, Vernon Hindman, and Earnest. In the back row
is my sister Elin, Richard's wife Martha, my grandmother Elsa Hindman, and ME!
Richard is the son of Anna "Trina" Katherina Stelljes and Friedrick Reith.
MYSTERY STELLJES PHOTOS
The following photos were unmarked, but felt to be of the Stelljes family.
Can you help me identify them??
This photo was taken in 1950 on the same day as the "Five Stelljes Sisters" above.
It shows two of the sister (from top photo) with an older lady. The caption says, "This was
the last picture we had of Aunt Margaret Stelljes. My sister Anna and Emma with her."
Who is this Aunt Margaret?
I believe these to be Anna and Emma Stelljes (daughters of Herman Georg Stelljes) with
their aunt Margaretta/Margaret/Margaretha, wife of Georg Stelljes.
Look below for a younger Margaretta.
Who is this Stelljes family?
I thought this to be Georg and Margaretta (Dammann) Stelljes, but I have my doubts now.
Comparing to other photos, Margaretta looks to be too tall in the photo above.
This picture hung in my grandmother's kitchen for years and years. She told me
about it when I was a kid, but don't remember the details. I'm sure that she said
it was relative of her mother's family. Georg is the brother of Anna Stelljes Steltenpohl
(my grandmother Elsa Steltenpohl Hindman's mom). This would have been my
grandmother's uncle and aunt.
