Nine members and friends turned up on a chilly, but sunny, Sunday morning for the second Eastern Region Off Road Go kart Grand Prix.
The racing was split into 4 heats for each driver ensuring everyone got to try out each of the four karts and every position on the grid. The heats saw some very close races with plenty of incident on the loose and very bumpy surface. Several drivers decided to rearrange the tyre walls but fortunately no one managed to turn a kart over. (We must try harder to do this the next time we race, it will make a great photo!)
After the heats it was neck and neck between 3 drivers, on 13 points each. The grand final was held as a decider with the top 4 on points taking to the starting grid. Jon started on pole, followed by Martin, Alistair and Andy. Some very close racing saw positions change several times with a couple of spin offs making things all the more interesting. The final podium positions went to; Jon Elsey the winner, followed by Andy in second place and Martin in third. Congratulations to Jon, on his third Eastern Region motor sport win, in a row. What have we got to do to beat this guy?
The racing was followed by a trip to the Three Tuns in Pettistree for lunch, and much chat about the morning’s events.
Many thanks to Geoff for organising another top Eastern Region event.
