Well, it had to happen in the end, after following Daz around Cambridgeshire in the pouring rain on two previous occasions the third attempt saw the Eastern Region get the kind of warm and sunny weather that MX-5s were made for.
A brilliant turnout of 23 MX-5s and Roadsters and a guest RX8 met up at Tesco’s, Bar Hill, and just so we did not get too over confident about the weather enough rain then fell to get the roofs up. By the time we left however it was dry and sunny as we all headed off, mostly in the same direction!. The first part of the route took in some excellent twisty and some pretty bumpy Fenland roads passing through Chatteris and Doddington finally arriving for a fuel and refreshment stop in Ramsey. Following the stop we then headed off for the second and longer leg of the run again taking in some more of Cambridgeshire's back roads which for the most part were very quiet except for the roar of 24 Mazda’s.
After a total of 90 miles enjoyable driving including the last couple on the A14 slowly passing one of the so called “Safety Camera Vans” (thanks for the waning in the route notes Daz), we arrived at the Brampton Hut Services where many of us enjoyed a pub lunch to finish off the run.
A great day out and the first time anyone has managed to get sun burned whilst following Daz.
Many thanks to both Daz and to Kendra for all the hard work putting the run together and this time proving that the “Eastern Region have more sun!”
