Norfolk Run and BBQ
“You’re kidding,! how many miles is that run?, never!” When first mentioned to me that the guys organising our annual Norfolk Run had come up with a route of 168 miles this was my initial reaction! Not that I have a problem with driving long distances but that looked more like a motoring marathon to me. I need not have feared however, as the route was split in to excellent bite sized chunks with many of us just picking out our favourites bits. In fact so long was the run that they couldn’t fit it all in to Norfolk and had quite a few miles of it running through Suffolk, where the reception at one pub, that will remain nameless, was not particularly welcoming! But whether in Norfolk or Suffolk the guys had chosen some of the regions best driving and most scenic roads, making it a very enjoyable run. The venue for the BBQ was the home of Steve and Mandy in Long Stratton and this year their baby daughter Tori, our current youngest Eastern Region member, was also there to welcome us to their beautiful garden.
A huge thanks to Ken Ward, John Mellor and Kev Allen for putting this great run together and to Mandy and Steve for allowing us to invade their home again this year.
