Claremont Showgrounds, Perth. August 2, 3 & 4th.
This year was one of the most successful shows for us. We thank the event organiser Mareene for allowing us one of the biggest spaces so that we could display, demonstrate and sell tools. The use of old tools and trades was emphasised by placing us near Greg’s working with children area.

Our space was enhanced by the effort we made in having new display cases, table clothes and hessian coverings. Kim, Nigel and Di helped with these while Kim, Geoff, Guy, Maitland and Sam assisted in the transport.
In the picture below one can see a part of the display area, the new display cases and the raffled tool box with restored tools. Thanks to Dave for preparing the toolbox and to those members who donated tools. Maitland and Steve also helped with the raffle display. People seemed very keen to win the raffle with tickets selling well over all three days.
New display cabinets looked great and are a lot easier to transport and set up. New backboards made hanging tools easier. The tool box raffle prize centre foreground.
Nigel, Bob and Elaine helped set out the display tables. The task which required a touch of magic was done by Robin in placing the mast in place.
Robin had constant visitors watching him tuning the mast of the lugger "Willie" .
The sales area caused the most excitement. The big sellers this year included axes, hatchets and shaves. This was mainly due to Greg whipping up enthusiasm with the green wood workshops.. There were fourteen sellers from the Club presenting tools. The centre tables, the end tables with the larger tools and a bunch of tool boxes with tools on offer all needed minding. Vic and Les were kept busy answering tool questions as they assisted. New members were signed up and tools promised as donations by the public as they became aware that the old trades and the tools should not be forgotten.
Sales tables had a lot of good user and collector tools on display.
The displays of Stanley tools by Gerry and Steve’s hammer collection proved popular while Guy, Willy and Robin were kept busy answering questions. Bob and Geoff showed how tools worked. The one who talked for three days was Wayne while showing de-rusting methods and working at the old bench. Of course the centre of attention was Robin as he showed how to turn a square pole into a round ship’s mast.

Congratulations to our HTPSWA member Les for his beautiful turned bowl titled Heavenly Harmony which took out 2nd prize in the Woodturning Embellished division.
