Minnivale Lost Trades Day. 11 May 2019.
Organised by members of the Dowerin Community Resource Centre this event was held, once again, at the Wheatbelt Heritage Rail Discovery Centre Minnivale which is about 30 km from Dowerin. The event is held in and around the old wheatbin which has been converted to house a diesel locomotive, some rolling stock and rail memorabilia.
Having worked for the Commonwealth Railways Bob knows the difference between a loco' that's on the move and one that aint.
This is the second year of this event and has gained in participation and visitor numbers.
HTPSWA members in attendance were Nigel and Di, Geoff and Elaine, Les and Wayne came up from Wandi and Bob and Brenda on their way home from representing us at the recent Machinery Rally at Murray Bridge SA also turned up. The President of the Wandi Woodturners, Allan, accompanied Les and Wayne.
Les had a tidy display of Silex tools. Nigel kept busy at the sales table.
Unfortunately our secretary Sam who had done the leg work organising us for this event was unable to make it on the day.
Other participants were the MPC, WA Blacksmiths, a coppersmith demonstrating soldering technique and a range of craft stalls. When you consider how small and isolated Minnivale is we had surprisingly good good visitor numbers looking at our displays and Nigels sales dep't. Les was showing Silex tools, Bob, agricultural spanners and Geoff braces.
Among the visitors were Steve W. and Toppy.
Late in the day we were all fumigated by the running of the locomotive.
Nigel and Di and Bob and Brenda took advantage of the camping facilities at Minnivale and stayed overnight.
