I Started Databeet In August 2012!
I was in business on lefty day, 13 august 2012! KvK was impressed with my business plan and I got a go from KvK and UWV. Both organizations had never seen a business plan that elaborate from a starter. I was working 18 hours at Kennisbank Filantropie as a data-manager after my 5 month fixed contract (36 hours) at CBS ended. I had the time to start a business or look for a small job besides being a data-manager at Kennisbank Filantropie. I opted to start my own business in Excel and SPSS.

The original plan was to teach workshops Excel, do some Excel work, help students with SPSS and do some SPSS. I got to do them all before I left on 18 November 2013 to the Pacific and even more. I networked a lot and just went for the gaps I saw in the Excel and SPSS education. Actually for almost all the knowledge gaps about using computer related programs. I had the experience with working as a student-assistant at the HES Helpdesk for a big part of my Business Economics study.

I was living in the neighborhood Nieuw England part of Utrecht West as is Lombok which was across the Vleutenseweg. On the Vleutenseweg there was an entrepreneur center where I gave a workshop and came in contact with buurtcentrum Rosa (community center). One of the first places I started as an entrepreneur. All the courses I taught at buurthuis Rosa were as an entrepreneur.

Buurtcentrum Rosa was one of the community centers in the neighborhood of Lombok, Utrecht. I had a talk with one of the program planners of the community center and I was allowed to use the computer classroom to give workshops Excel and other basic computer skills. They even had a few first clients for me.

I wanted to give Excel, but when talking to the community center program planner she told me that buurthuis Rosa also needed workshops for the computer skills before starting with Excel. I agreed and started teaching a self-made 6 week course 'Starten met Computeren'. It was a challenge but with doing this I discovered that if I wanted to teach people skills they needed and they weren’t interested in I have to teach these skills covering a theme that interests them. Most of the people I taught at buurthuis Rosa were reintegrating from non-computer skilled jobs to computer skilled jobs due to health issues.

On a vacation to Cuba at the beginning of 2013 I noticed that I wanted to travel and put everything in perspective which happend from 2010 till then. I bought a ticket leaving for the Pacific on 18 november 2013 at the beginning of 2013. I needed time to think through what I really wanted to do with Databeet, the business I had setup in 2012. I said no to many projects, but also accepted many projects. I realised I could be a fulltime entrepreneur. Besides that the health care needed the computer classrooms, which meant that this was my last year teaching Excel and other computer related programs at buurthuis Rosa. Not a problem, but before going fulltime in business with my company Databeet I needed a break.
