What Is Born Again?

Jesus told Nicodemus when Jesus walked on this earth "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, `you must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.''

So what happens when you are born again? Jesus said "And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.'' Also, when you die, if you plan in going to heaven you will need your new spirit just to enter into heaven.

So what else happens? 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. When you are a new creation the old creation is gone because you get a new spirit (your spirit is new) your mind remembers the old stuff but your spirit is brand new and your sins and their lawless deeds God will remember no more. So do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

When Jesus died on the cross, was buried and resurrected; He paid for all our sins, for all generational curses, for all sickness and deceases, in other words we are now like Adam was before he disobeyed God. That is what born again means. Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

"The word is near you, even in your mouth and in your heart'' (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes to righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made to salvation.” That is how you are “born again.”

Matthew 18:11 For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.
