God is Love
In 1 John 4:8 John writes “He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.”
I started to study love because, after I had been studying the bible for some time to where I believed that I was walking in the Word and doing the Word, all of a sudden I got sick with pneumonia. I did not know why I was sick. So I prayed and ask God what was wrong and He told me “because you don’t walk in love.”
Did you know that if people would walk in love and live in the God kind of love they would not sin? Therefore, they would not even get sick; the truth is that they would be walking just like Jesus walked while on these earth. Jesus always walked in love and never sinned.
What is the God kind of love? In Matthew 22:37 Jesus answered him (talking to the Jews); “You must love the Lord your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with your entire mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. All the other commandments and all the demands of the prophets stem from these two laws and are fulfilled if you obey them.
You will find these same commandments from Jesus written in Mark 12:30, John 13:34 and John 14:21. In John 15:10 Jesus says “I have obeyed my Father's commands and I stay in His love. If you obey my commands, you will stay in my love.” In John 15:17 Jesus orders “Love one another! I am ordering you to do this."
In John 17:26 Jesus prays to the Father “I revealed Your name to them and I will reveal it. I want them to have Your love in them, the same love that You have for me. I want it to be for them, also.'' The God kind of love that the Father has was given to us through the blood of Jesus and through the Holy Spirit. Read John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Then in Colossians 1:27 God wanted them to make clear the meaning of the glorious wealth of this secret in people who are not Jewish. The secret is Christ in you; he is the hope of glory.
Then we find in Romans 5:5 And, hope never disappoints us, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. Also, Romans 12:9. Love must be sincere. Hate evil. Hold onto good. Romans 12:10 Have the same kind of love for one another which brothers have. Give each other more honor than you do yourselves. Romans 13:8. The only thing you should owe anyone is love. The person who loves another person has made law complete:(the Holy Spirit poured into our heart God's kind of love.)
Read 1 Corinthians 13; which is the love chapter, tells us that if we do not have love we really are nothing. You really need to read it because everything that God has given us works by love. Even faith works by love; read Galatians 5:6 "but faith which worketh by love." I have learned that without love, faith will not work. We have to know how much God loves us and because of His love for us we have the faith that God will do what we ask or what we command in the name of Jesus.
Now love for one another starts by first loving God (Jesus) and then will go into our own homes, and from there it branches out to others. That is why God told me that I did not walk in love. My mind had to be renewed: In Romans 12:2 He tells me “Don't act like people of this world. Instead, be changed inside by letting your mind be made new again (your mind and your spirit have to be in agreement). Then you can determine what is good, pleasing, and perfect--what God wants.”
We are to love with a pure heart: 1 Peter 1:22 says that “When you obeyed the truth, you made your souls pure. This led you to loving your brothers. That love must be sincere. Love one another intensely from your hearts.”
The most important thing to remember is what you can read in 1 John 3:1 See how very much our heavenly Father loves us, for he allows us to be called his children--think of it--and we really are! But since most people don't know God, naturally they don't understand that we are His children.
If we are His children then we should walk in love. Thank you Jesus that we can walk in love because the Holy Spirit has poured love into our heart. Jesus said in John 13:34 "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another." How did Jesus loved us? Well, He died taking all the present, future and past sins of the whole world and the Father also put all sickness and diseases on His body so that we do not have be sick anymore.
