The Lord’s Day
· Observance of the Lord’s day is commanded by God in the third commandment.
· Observance of the Lord’s day is seen as a gracious invitation by our heavenly Father to partake of Him. It is an opportunity to hear His word and to receive His forgiveness of sins. The Lord’s day is the day when He serves us.
God comes to us on the Lord’s Day.

The Lord’s Day
· Observance of the Lord’s day is seen as an act of obedience. It is a Christian institution. (Because it is a Christian institution and not Christ instituted it contradicts liberty of the soul)
The Lord’s day is the day when man actively praises God through His worship. Worship is therefore seen primarily as an act of man for God, in much the same way as Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
