· Man is justified before God by faith alone in Christ Jesus. (Faith itself is a gift from God.) Ephesians 2:8-10
All doctrine therefore stems from this chief teaching of the scriptures. All teachings are seen in light of our salvation.
Eastern Orthodoxy
Theological Emphasis
· “Christ became Man, that man might become divine.” Orthodoxy emphasizes the ultimate deification of man.
All doctrine and practice therefore seeks to draw men to be imitators of Christ, to live a life of holiness and thereby partake of the Divine nature. This ultimately includes a sharing of the attributes of God.
