Safety and Training is an important requirement within our Club, especially for leaders but also for all our members as well. In any incident in the bush we will all be the first responders - would you know what to do to help a friend?
There is one opportunity for you to upskill, with priority given to leaders. This year there will be no cost to any leaders who have led two walks in the last 12 months. Also any members attending New Leader Training with Linda Mote and who then go on to lead two walks will have their money refunded. Even though the overall cost to the Club has increased this year, the cost of $20 for the course has been reduced as it is such an important training activity on our calendar. However all members are also strongly encouraged to attend. The 5 hour session covers Bleeding - major and minor wounds , Fracture management and Splints, Heart Attack, Asthma/ Breathing difficulties, Heat illness/ Dehydration, Stroke, Diabetes, Seizures, Anaphylaxis and Epipen, Snake and Spider bites (setopress bandages), Ticks and Leeches, Head injuries, Strains and Sprains. Any of these incidents can happen at any time when we are far from medical assistance. This training will be bush related. First Aid Kit essentials, Assessing Emergency Services, Emergency Plus, 000/112 will also be covered. Paradise First Aid is a fully accredited and registered training organisation with courses and information being delivered by trained paramedics. According to Covid requirements, only 14 people can attend each session and we only have 3 places left on this last course. Training will take place at their Mermaid Beach Training Centre, starting at 9am and concluding at approx. COST : $20. The balance of the cost will be covered by the Club.
