How lucky can you be with the weather? Saturday was such a wet day that cancellation was on the cards. However, Sunday dawned bright and sunny so our group set off in anticipation of something new. The full walk to Cainbable Falls and the roundabout return had not been done by the Club for over 9 years. The last time it was walked, apart from a couple of recces, was on the 15th October 2006 with both Leader and Scribe in attendance! So there was an element of nostalgia seeing the area again. The descent to Cainbable creek was negotiated carefully over tree roots, vine and rocks. There was little water in the creek so only a trickle over the Falls. The return was up a grassy hill to a 4wd track leading to Duck Creek Road which was very popular with 4wd drivers enjoying the fine conditions. We lunched at a point overlooking Luke’s Farm and then it was an hour’s walk along the road to the cars. Thanks Meriel for your leadership and for the hard work finding the route and for bringing it back into the Club’s itinerary.
