After a pleasant drive up the Currumbin Valley past the Currumbin Rockpool we parked the cars at the trail head and Rick briefed us on a challenging day of mainly off track hiking to the summit of Boyds Butte.
With 9 experienced walkers in tow Rick led us thru some challenging country on often steep slopes that were challenging in the high humidity, especially under the canopy in the lower sections
After two hours of exertion we were rewarded with a small climb from the base of Boyd’s Butte to the summit. The views across the Tallebudgera Valley were simply stunning on a nice clear day.
Great to get a very cool breeze to cool some tired bodies for morning tea just off the summit .
The day was incident free except for a fall on the descent which after some rest time we were all able to continue down to the car park in one piece and then enjoy the comradeship that comes with the rehash at afternoon tea.
Special thanks to Rick E with his outstanding knowledge and bushcraft. Always a pleasure.
Geoff H helped keep us on course with his intermittent GPS readings. Keith B, as usual, kept us closely bunched at ‘tail end Charlie’. Well done Keith.
A great day had by all.
