What a great walk. Never quite knowing what to expect, Rick didn’t disappoint us with this incredible walk. At the entrance to the track we were met by 2 very friendly dogs and equally friendly horses who had to come for a pat. Mt Bally in the Araluen Reserve was a serious hike, ascending Mt Bally from the Eastern side, not for the faint-hearted. It certainly got our hearts pumping. It was a very steep climb but taking our time it was very enjoyable. The views were fantastic, The Cougals, Mt Warning and the Gold Coast looking incredible. There was an exposed razorback between the peaks. It was a short day and finished by 1pm. It is 167 metres high and the 1486th highest mountain in Queensland.
Thank you to Rick and Geoff for putting this walk on for the club. I feel the leaders don’t always get the thanks they deserve for trying new walks. I hope others will be able to enjoy this walk in the future.
