2 March Burleigh/Currumbin Leader: Lynne M
On yet another hot day 17 bushies met at the carpark on the north side of the Gold Coast Highway bridge over Tallebudgera Creek. We walked south via the beach or pathways down to Currumbin Creek and had morning tea at Currumbin RSL. Some walkers returned northwards via the same way, while others, feeling the heat, caught the surfside bus back up to our starting point to enjoy lunch beside Tallebudgera Creek.
9 March Kingscliff to Salt Leader: Robert F
After meeting at the carpark beside Kingscliff Surf Club, 18 walkers crossed the low bridge and checked out the mouth of Cudgen Creek, to be surprised by a multitude of black ray-like fins in the shallows of the surf. Then we continued along the path or beach down to Salt, our usual morning tea spot. We returned via the creek pathways back to the
Surf Club park area for lunch, where there's always a welcome cool breeze.
16 March Coomera Falls/Circuit Leaders: Ann M Lis M
From the top carpark at Binna Burra 15 members set off on the border track and turned down to see the magnificent Coomera Falls and gorge. From there 4 people returned the same way back to the carpark, while Ann and Lis led the other 11 around the circuit with its many creek crossings, coming up to the border track further out. After escaping bad weather so far, they encountered some heavy rain (and many blue crayfish) on this last part.
23 March Brisbane Excursion: Medieval Power & Splendour at the Museum Leaders: Lynne M, Robert F
9 club members caught the early train to South Brisbane to see the beautiful exhibition of artefacts from about 600 AD to 1500, on loan from the British Museum. (I can see why many people have visited it more than once.) Early morning tea was enjoyed at the State Library cafe, and lunch afterwards at the Museum one. Meanwhile the riverside parklands provided an ideal space for a walk before the return train trip home.
OR: Beachside Burleigh to Nobbys Leader: Helen S
Another 14 walkers set out from the parking area north of Tallebudgera Creek bridge and followed the top track around Burleigh Hill, then continued on the surfside paths up to North Burleigh and the South Nobby lookout. Further on at Nobbys they enjoyed great service at the Canvas cafe for coffee. On the return walk they followed the beach or the paths, and some took the opportunity to have a swim to round off a great morning.
30 March Fingal Ramble Leaders: Lynne M, Robert F
From the Fingal Boat harbour park beside the Tweed River, 26 walkers went through the quarry area up to the Giant's Causeway and the lighthouse. From there it was southwards along Dreamtime Beach and along a bush track where we found a shady patch for a morning tea stop. This led us along a grassy area beside the lagoon and a short cut back to the riverside for an early lunch.
OR: Bike Ride around Fingal and Chinderah
Meanwhile another 9 bushies cycled from the Boat harbour park out along Letitia Spit and back. After early morning tea at the Trading Post they continued south along the back roads of Chinderah and Kingscliff, then circled back to their starting point for lunch after covering 34 km altogether.
