2 Dec Upper Ballanjui Falls Leader: Ellen B
12 walkers met at the top Binna Burra carpark - looming clouds and unpromising weather probably discouraged more bushies from coming. However, the modest amount of rain we experienced as we turned down from the border track to the Ship’s Stern one, then the Upper Ballanjui one, actually enhanced the tree ferns and other greenery. This is a pretty walk, where we can enjoy the sight and sound of cascades on the way. During morning tea at the big rock slab, some members did the detour down to observe the falls from below. Finally, we retraced our steps up to the carpark area for lunch under cover.
9 Dec Terranora Waterways Leader: Rewa J
From the far side of Seagulls Club carpark 24 bushies enjoyed a leisurely walk this hot day, around the edge of Birds Bay & Bingam Bay, returning the same way. A good breeze was welcome as we made our way to Seagulls outdoor coffee shop beside the water for morning tea. Some of the group then extended their walk to go further around the waterway.
16 Dec Wednesday Christmas Picnic
About 45 members gathered at the park across the road from Currumbin Alley. Some of the early arrivals joined Peter A on a walk westward along the creek and some of the hills before rejoining the socialisers. After the usual delicious shared lunch, Peter made a presentation to Lynne M as thanks for her excellent organising of the Wednesday walks - this involves sending & receiving emails and phone calls, finding walk leaders and monitoring the weather conditions. The average weekly attendance for the documented
Wednesday walks held in 2015 was 21, with 5 walks not undertaken between March and June because of rain.
