6 April Daves Creek/Upper Ballanjui Leaders: Ann M, Paula B
Now there were no predictions of rain it was a great time to get back up to the hinterland and enjoy the forest. 26 bushies met at the Binna Burra top carpark; 18 of them followed Paula along the border track and then down clockwise on the Daves Creek circuit, with a morning tea stop at Surprise Rock. On the return walk to the carpark area for lunch some of the group passed a shiny black land mullet and a small black snake. Meanwhile Ann and 6 others set out the same way and then diverged onto the Upper Ballanjui track before doing the Daves Creek one and having some fun up on Surprise Rock.
13 April Lower Ballanjui/Caves Circuit Leaders: Paula B, Ann M
From the Information Centre at Binna Burra, 18 walkers went down the road to follow the Lower Bellbird track and turn left onto the Ships Stern track to have a morning tea break at Lower Ballanjui's generous falls. Half the group returned the same way, while half went back further up the Ships Stern track and then followed the Horse Track to the open grassy area and the Caves Circuit. This led them round to the Information Centre, where all gathered for lunch.
20 April Kingscliff to Salt Leader: Josie B
After meeting at the carpark beside Kingscliff Surf Club, 15 walkers crossed the low bridge and checked out the mouth of Cudgen Creek before continuing along the path or beach to Salt, the usual morning tea spot. On the return walk they followed the creek pathways back to the Surf Club park area for lunch.
OR Nerang Bike Ride Leader: Lis M
22 bikers left from the Q Centre to ride past Emerald Lakes and on to Nerang, with a morning tea stop at the riverside park there. After a ride around the Nerang streets they returned southwards to their starting point.
27 April Nerang River and Parklands Leader: Helen S
A record crowd of 36 walkers met at the park beside Riverlea Waters at Nerang, and first followed the road via Weedons Crossing to check out the lovely greenery at Swifts Park. Then we crossed the main road to the excellent little Kool Beanz cafe for morning tea and a visit to the nearby Buddhist Temple. For the final section we went up the hill to the top entrance to explore the community facilities at Country Paradise Parklands. This led us to Helen's home location at Riverlea Waters, where a tasty cake was added to our shared lunch to celebrate Ann McLean's 70th birthday on 1 May.
OR Hellfire Pass Geoff H
Another 11 bushies drove from Nerang via Clagiraba Road to park at Belliss Road. From there they walked up and up to the top of Hellfire Pass and along the ridge. Morning tea was enjoyed here with views of Mt Lindesay and Mt Barney. They then returned down the same way to have lunch with the Nerang walkers.
