William John "Bill" Ball, 65, of Candler, N.C., formerly of New Alexandria, died Thursday, March 15, 2007, at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, George R. and A. Elizabeth Hutson Ball; infant son, Jeffrey William Ball, in 1966; and his wife, Linda Lytle Ball. He is survived by his children, Jennifer (Ball) Bowman, of New Alexandria, Christopher Ball, of Chicago, Ill., and Stephanie (Ball) White, of Loyalhanna. Also surviving are his brother, Jim Ball, of Derry; and sisters, Shirley Steele and husband, Jack, of New Alexandria, and Lois Ross and husband, Art, of Latrobe. Arrangements were handled by ANDERS-RICE FUNERAL HOME, in Asheville, N.C.

Elizabeth Beswick Baker, 61, formerly of Greensburg, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002, in Indiana Community Hospital, Indianapolis. She was a graduate of Greensburg High School and Westminster College. She is survived by her sister, Lois Peters of North Huntingdon; a brother, George Beswick in California; and nieces and nephews. Memorial service Sunday at 12:45 p.m. in Christ United Methodist Church, North Huntingdon.

Claudia Deann "Dede" Brinker, 63, passed away Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, at home following a lengthy illness. A resident of Cecil County, Md., for 32 years, she was born in Greensburg, on Aug. 26, 1941, the daughter of the late Edward C. and Elizabeth McKee Brinker. Ms. Brinker was a graduate of Greensburg High School, was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree from Northwestern University School of Education in 1963, studied library science at the University of Delaware, and received her Master of Science degree in Instructional Technology from Towson State University. She had been a third grade teacher for eight years at Avoca East Elementary School in Wilmette, Ill., and had been employed with First National Bank of North East for 21 years serving as receptionist, assistant cashier, assistant vice president, and a branch manager. Ms. Brinker was also an instructional assistant at Elkton High School, and most recently secretary/bookkeeper at North East High School, from where she retired in 2001. Ms. Brinker was a member of First United Church of Christ, Greensburg, Northwestern University Alumni Association and Alpha Phi International Fraternity (Sorority). She enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, swimming, knitting, reading, gardening and doing yard work. She was an avid Big 10 football fan, especially the Northwestern Wildcats. Survivors include her lifelong friend, Carol J. Scheff, of Elkton, Md.; and cousins, Claude McKee, of Greensburg, Jane Joyce, of Verona, and Ginnie Joyce Izett, of Monroeville. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at COSHEY-NICHOLSON FUNERAL HOME, 319 W. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with interment to follow in St. Clair Cemetery, Greensburg. Bonnie M. Brown Prutz, 72, of South Greensburg, passed away Monday evening, Oct. 6, 2014, under the loving care of hospice and her family. She was born Nov. 21, 1941, in Greensburg, a daughter to the late Harrold and Alberta Brown. Bonnie was the beloved wife of 47 years of Walter Prutz Jr.;; mother to Jennifer (Jamie) Aurigemma and Stevie (Mike) Martino;; and Grammie to Luke, Evan, Macy, and Jackson. Bonnie enjoyed yoga at the Greensburg Aerobic Center, vacationing in Virginia Beach, Va., and spending time with her grandkids and dog, Maggie. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the BARNHART FUNERAL HOME, 505 E. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations are made to Bonnie's favorite charity, The Salvation Army.

jmes R. Budney, 68, of Mammoth, formerly of Acme, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at the home |of his aunt, Leona Weir, of Mammoth, with his loving family by his side. Born April 16, 1940, he was a son of the late Irene DiCriscio. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Magdaline Budney; and loving cousin, Paulette Gridler. He is survived by his loving son, Anthony James Budney, of Greensburg; his loving second mother, Aunt Lee; special cousin, Jeff; loving cousins, Frank, Fred, Greg, Trish, Marie and Chris; stepfather, Michael DiCriscio Sr., of Greensburg; three brothers, Larry "Bucky" Mariotti, of Mesa, Ariz., Richard DiCriscio, of Greensburg, and Michael DiCriscio, of Derry; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, Norvelt. His funeral Mass will be held Friday, at a time to be announced, in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Calumet. Interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.


Claire B. Horning, 78, of Greensburg, died Sunday, April 19, 2020, in Westmoreland Manor. She was born in Greensburg on August 28, 1941, a daughter of the late Benjamin Blose and Lucille Gunnarsson Blose. She was a 1959 graduate of Greensburg High School and attended Gettysburg College. After working at Friendship Federal/Landmark Savings as an Assistant Vice-President, Claire found her true passion as a Special Needs Teaching Aide at Greensburg-Salem School District. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Greensburg. She was a great cook, an avid reader, liked to do crossword puzzles and enjoyed watching the Steelers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ann Saunders. Claire is survived by her husband of 36 years, Terry A. Horning; sons, William Walton (Julia) and Mitchell Walton; 3 granddaughters, Mary Rae Rocco (Derek), Lindsay Walton (Tom) and Gabrielle Walton (Chris); 7 great grandchildren, Samuel, Violet, Vincent, Seth, Scarlett, Piper and Regan; her brother, William Blose; also, several nieces and nephews. Services for Claire will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Kepple-Graft Funeral Home, Greensburg.
