October 24th Email (Sent to All 2025 Participants)

Hello Ghost Train Runners!

Earlier this week, the dates for Ghost Train 2026 and when registration will open were announced to our Facebook group, and I wanted to share them with all of our 2025 participants in case you aren't on Facebook or didn't happen across the post.

Ghost Train 2026: October 16-18

Registration opens: Saturday, January 31, 2026

1:00 pm: 30-Hour Ultramarathon & 30-Hour Relay

2:00 pm: 15-Mile Race, 15-Mile Relay, & Haunted Night 30-Mile

You will notice that registration times will be split up this year to help spread out the volume and make for a better experience for everyone.  I am working with Ultrasignup to investigate other ways we can make registration go more smoothly than it has the past few years.  (Yes, we keep crashing Ultrasignup, and I'd prefer to eliminate the hangs, the crashes, the double charges, and the weeks of cleaning up everyone's registration if we can avoid it!)

Registration changes are still evolving and being determined, but will be clearly communicated in our Facebook group ahead of time as well as on Ultrasignup when you register.

PLEASE NOTE!  These changes DO NOT include a lottery or any other option than the traditional "first in, first registered" format that you are familiar with. 

Two more items worth noting:

- The 30-Hour Ultra waitlist will be capped at 175 people.  Once that number has been reached, I'll be closing the waitlist, as I don't have confidence that anyone after that point will be able to get into the race.

- In an effort to give maximum notice to our runners for their preparation, the last date to be invited into the race will be Friday, October 2nd.  In my experience, after that date the percentage of people responding drops significantly, and I'd like runners to have as much prep time as possible.

The Ghost Train website and our Ultrasignup registration page will be updated in the next few weeks.  The 2026 Ghost Train Handbook is being rewritten now and will be available on the website before registration opens.
