The highest mountain in Egypt is Mount Gebel Katrina with its impressive 2642 m. Still it would be easily be swallowed of the depth of the Red Sea .
The Red Sea or Al BaherAl -Ahmer in Arabic is one of the world's tantalizing seascape environment. The Red Sea is geologically recent opening and one of the youngest zone on earth.
Nine countries share the shoreline of the Red Sea and the water of the Red Sea support a vital fishing industry and provide recreation facilities. Unfortunately, The coastal environment is fragile. The shore line ,coastal region and near- shore, waters are all under pressure from population and industry.
The Red Sea is connected to Indian Ocean in the south through narrow strait of Bab Al-Manab and the Gulf of Aden. In the North , the Red Sea split into Gulf of Al Aqaba and gulf of suez, where it only just joins the Mediterranean Sea via the manmade Suez canal
The highest mountain on the Red Sea ( Katarina Mount).

Mangroves
Mangroves is the collective name for all plants that can grow in salt water. It's a fragile environment and an important part of the ecosystem besides that it also has a breathtaking beauty. There is plenty of mangrove along the Red Sea coastline and it's all protected by law. Mainly it's the Grey Mangrove, Avicennia MarinaI along the Egyptian coast line and it seems to prefer the tidal areas. With an average of 4 to 8 metres in height the Grey Mangrove is towering over the sea surface but it anyway need its respiratory roots that grows up through the ground and stretches above the water. These roots are actually utilizing the oxygen in the air during low tide .

Cool Mangrove Facts:
· In Egypt there are a scientific program working on mangrove rehabilitation and producing honey from mangrove flowers.
· The mangroves growth in the small bay at Ras Mohammed is actually the most northern known growth in the world.
Mangrove leafs are covered in salt glands that helps the tree to rid excessive salt. Mangrove plays an important part of the Red Sea costal ecosystem. It stabilizes the tidal area, it is a wave- tide and a storm breaker, keeping the inland from being saturated by salty sea water. It provides shelter, nesting place- nesting material, food and ground nutrients, plus it's a wicked nursery for juveniles of innumerable species marine life and land animals. Reef sharks for example are spending the most of their young life here.

i am from indonesia :)
Mangroves are widespread along the coast of Indonesia. They are keep found along the eastern shore of Sumatra, the western and eastern shores of Kalimantan, the western and southern shores of Bird’s Head as well as the southern shore of Irian Jaya, and the shores of the Aru islands, with limited other areas in south-eastern Sulawesi and along the northern shore of Java. Their structure is simple and they constitute belts of mainly Rhizophora sp., Avicennia sp., Sonneratia sp., Ceriops sp., Xylocarpus sp. and Lumnitzera sp., determined by soil, current and inundation patterns. Tree heights are usually between 7 and 25 m. Large areas of mangrove, especially near the estuaries of major rivers, have been disturbed by extraction for fuelwood, charcoal and tannin production.
but, 70 percent of Indonesia's remaining mangrove forests are damaged due to human activities now,

Red Sea Climate
08/08/2010
The climate of the red Sea
The best time to visit the Red Sea Coast is between March and May, and between September and November. These periods are accompanied by pleasantly warm days and thinner holidaying crowds.
Summers are uncomfortably hot and humid, while winter days can be chilly.

Red Sea Tides
In general tide ranges between 0.6 m in the north, near the mouth of the Gulf of Suez and 0.9 m in the south near the Gulf of Aden but it fluctuates between 0.20 and 0.30 m away from the nodal point. The central Red Sea (Jeddah area) is therefore almost tide-less. The prevailing north and north-eastern winds influence the movement of water in the coastal areas, especially during storms. In the winter the sea level is 0.5 m higher than in summer. Tidal velocities passing through constrictions caused by reefs, sand bars and low islands commonly exceed 1-2 m per sec, generally the velocity of the tidal current is 50-60 cm per sec with a maximum of 1 m per sec not to be confused with other currents that can be wicked
Low tide at Shaab El Erg:
Sometimes the tide is so low that the reef is sticking out of the water. On other, just as rare occasions the tide is so high that beaches are flooded.
Red Sea Sediments:
The Red Sea is unique among the seas of the world as no river flows into it. Occasionally sediment is brought into the Red Sea via a number of wadis (walleyes with seasonal streams) especially in the south. Since there is absence of rivers and permanent streams, sand and dirt is only brought to the Red Sea by rain and wind. The coastal sediment is mostly composed of carbonate material from coral fragments, coralline algae and molluscs. The sediments vary in size from gravel to sand with occasional fine sediments at places.

Sharm El Sheikh
Sharm is a location of international diving interest, is directly located on the eastern Red Sea coasts. It's famous for its transparent and mild water, for the abundance of colors. Thanks to the presence of many different kinds of coral and to the incredible variety of sea species.
This is also one of the best liked place for divers thanks to the many diving sites reachable in few minutes with comfortable and convenient boats that offer the opportunities to have meals on board.
The temperature of the water is good all year round and this makes diving and snorkelling possible every time.
In the depths is very easy to find a number of wrecks even if the most interesting one is the THISTLEGORM wreck that we warmly advise. In these waters besides all the bentonic species is very easy to meet big pelagic, tiny fishes, barracudas and sharks

Coral reefs
Others also fan out, but are more flat, with no spikes.
Some corals are made out of spikes or horns, and grow in fan shaped colonies.
10/08/2010
coral reefs
Colors can vary, and almost span the entire spectrum. I do not recall any green colored ones, but saw everything from cyan, violet, yellow, orange, red,
This is called a "brain coral", because it looks somewhat like a brain. It can grow to immense proportions.
10/08/2010
Coral reefs
As the water deepens, the yellows, orange and red parts of the spectrum get absorbed by the water, and only the blues remain, fading into greys.
The dead corals form the substrate for the new corals to grow on. Dead corals are white or grey, and if algae start to grow on it can be blackish as well. A healthy reef has lots of colors.
10/08/2010
Beautiful shapes of reefs
The Red Sea is an underwater paradise mainly because of one thing: the Coral Reefs.
Coral Reefs form via colonies of a stationary animal with a calcified skeleton. The coral animals feed by filtering plankton from the water, driven its way by sea currents. As the animals die off, their skeletons form the basis of the reef, and other animals adhere to the mass, and the cycle continues.
Corals also have algae living within its tissue. These algaes use photosynthesis to build up nutrients from sea minerals and dissolved carbon dioxide. It is the algae that give the corals their varying colors
