Over the past few weeks, we have been training SumoBot teams for competition. In a SumoBot competition, two NXT/EV3 robots go head-to-head and try to push each other out of a four foot ring. The Triangle SumoBots competition will be held Saturday, May 3rd, at the NC Museum of Life and Science as part of their Robot Rumble event.
We will field seven teams under our "banner" of Bio-Bot Robotics:
Cyber Dragons
Cyborg Ninja
Rampaging Robots
Bio-Bots 2.0
Destruction Crew
B-Bot
Sal
Alex, who will join the Bio-Bots this season, is the builder/operator of B-Bot and part of the Cyborg Ninja team. Thomas is also a Cyborg Ninja, as well as the only member of the Destruction Crew. Chris and Ben are the coaches/mentors for all the teams.
Ben is also the creator of Sal (named after Sal "The Barber" Maglie, a baseball player from the 40's and 50's)
We are looking forward to a fun day on the 3rd! If you are in the neighborhood, all the levels of FIRST will be at the Rumble, as well as the VEX Robotics Competition, SumoBots, Combat Robots, Bot Hockey and a variety of other types of robotics programs and clubs.
Admission to the museum is $14 for adults, $10 for children.
