Who can swim?

The Forest Lake Ranger girls' synchronized swimming team is offered every spring for students in grades 7 - 12. Practice actually starts in early March, so be sure to contact your school's activities office to get registered so you don't miss anything. No Synchro Experience Necessary! We ask that interested swimmers are able to swim at least 50 yards.

* Practice for 1st year swimmers is 2:35-5:00 M-F.

Recommended Equipment

Synchronized swimming requires durable swim-wear. Girls will need a one-piece practice suit (or 2 or 3 as they do wear out in the chlorinated environment). Appropriate durable suits used in practice are not easily found in local stores, and those that are, are usually made of lycra, a material that will not last. ("Poly" suits will hold up much longer than other types of suits.) It is probably best to order a suit online, from a reputable dealer. Our swimmers often use:

In addition to practice suits, swimmers will also need at least one swim cap, noseclip and goggles. These can also be found online. After the season is underway, swimmers will also need a solid black swimmng suits for meets. And acquire a suit or suits for the each routine in which they will compete. For beginners, this is usually just one.

Summer Training Opportunity

If you are looking for ways to prepare for the season or simply to learn what synchro is all about, consider participating in the synchro clinic that runs all summer long. This is a great place to learn the basics and gain new skills. The swimming clinic is offered through community education at Southwest Junior High.

IMPORTANT: All swimmers are required to have proof of a sports physical within the past three years before they can begin practicing with the team!
