Machine Language Translation Generated Subtitles: If a shared YouTube video narration is in a non-English language, for example Italian, for rough machine language translation generated subtitles (computer only), in the YouTube player lower right corner controls area, 1st toggle on Closed Captions by clicking the white rectangular icon labeled “CC” until a red line appears under the icon, then in the pop-up note that appears, verify “Italian (auto gen…)” displays/is selected; then 2nd, select next to the CC icon the adjacent ”gear-shaped” icon & in the pop-up list that appears select Subtitles...Italian > Auto Translate > [select desired destination] (language). Once the video plays & narration begins, language-translated captions will appear at the bottom of the video.
Spoken Translation: Alternately, for improved accuracy & spoken translation, use computer & Smartphone - on the phone run the Google Translate (GT) App set to Italian <> (desired destination language) & tap the microphone icon to establish GT “Conversation Mode”, then hold the phone microphone-end by the computer speaker. Then, on the computer, playback the video, pausing after each Italian narration phrase, to hear the spoken phone translation.
