Psych Profile:
Despite being born on a high-gravity world, Brennan towers over most species at six foot seven inches. Dark hair and eyes set in a skin tone that never seems to lose its tan. While his face can be quite animated, it often appears with an intense, almost brooding expression when he is lost in thought, or not really 'present' in the situation. Muscularly lean build, he has a number of tattoos and scars on his body - each a memento of various times throughout his life.
Brennan lives his life on the tottering edge of eccentricity at a personal level. While not a pie-in-the-sky theorist as an engineer, pie-in-the-face is not beneath him. Off-duty and socially, he has a number of acquaintances, and when not sequestered in Engineering spaces, is often the 'life of the party'. He has very few that he truly considers ‘friends', however. Those that do have that relationship describe him in turns as fickle, capricious, lazy and funny in various turns. Otherwise laid back and unassuming, he prefers people and machines who understand him, and who he understands
Brennan Tighearnach was born on the heavy gravity world of Eta Ceti III, a thriving agricultural planet known for its production of meat delicacies. His mother, Aoibhe Tighearnach was the second matriarch of the Tighearnach clan, of Terran Irish decent, and a co-owner of the Tighearnach Estate. His father, Daniel Colomarein married into the clan after serving on the estate as the resident agricultural engineer. Brennan is the middle of three children, including his older sister Eireann and his younger brother Killian. With millions of acres being managed by a clan of over forty people, it was easy for Brennan to be lost in the flow and pace of daily life. Possessed with an insatiable curiosity, Brennan often followed after his father day to day, enjoying tinkering with his father.
The day Brennan lost his father in an agricultural accident was the most tragic event of his life. From that moment on, Brennan began to distance himself from people, and becoming more and more interested in machines. Machines didn't yell at you, didn't insist there was something wrong with you, and didn’t demand you talk to the nice doctor. He picked up where his father left off, creating and improving the agricultural and ranching equipment - even creating a successful herd control system that maintained the whereabouts of a large number of herd beasts, and brought them together at the push of a button. Excited, the Tighearnach clan prepared to reap the benefits of patenting and selling the devices. Imagine their surprise when its creator sold the entire project, deeded the royalties to his older sister, and joined Starfleet.
Brennan did very well throughout his Academy years within the Engineering programs there, developing friendships, and becoming the class clown. Fascinated by starship engineering, he rapidly advanced to graduate at the top ten percent of his class. But graduation brought on a new phase – assignments. Things rapidly went downhill. Brennan was no longer allowed to work on whatever he liked; he began to hate the routine scutwork required of a junior Engineering officer. Slowly but surely, he began to deviate from the day-to-day duties, and began to work on 'personal projects'. Oftentimes these projects improved construction and performance of items he worked on. Brennan had difficulty understanding why he was in trouble; in his mind, deviation from Starfleet Engineering manuals was no reason to be reprimanded. Eventually, he was placed of transfer to another ship. And another, and another, until he finally ended discharged for cause. Unwilling to return to his family and the strife within it, Brennan took a position with the Border Patrol.
Brennan thrives on creativity. While focused during duty, he generally conducts himself with a detachment that borders on an ignoring of the environment. He typically chooses a spectator seat, or assumes a sideline positions rather than join others when conferences or meetings occur. While he does not have anti-social tendencies, he prefers working alone to teamwork. He is a success driven, goal-oriented, and astute engineer. In fact, one of the documented incidences for his dismissal was that more than once he purposely mismanaging time to 'sweeten the challenge'
