Royal Navy

An Illustrated History of the Embroidered Silk Postcards is the standard reference book on embroidered silk postcards. It contains references to over 2600 different cards with over 270 illustrations. The section on the Royal Navy and associated units lists 67 cards. Very few new cards have been discovered since the book was published and these are listed below. The new additions are shown in RED.

The Royal Navy has a special place within the British Armed Forces that reflects its deep history going back centuries. For this reason, it is known as the "Senior Service". Embroidered silk postcards on naval subjects and His Majesty's Ships (HMS) constitute a small category of cards, some of which are the rarest and most desirable cards to collect. Only a few new captions have been discovered since the book was published and the listing is probably almost complete.

Images of a representative selection of cards are shown beneath the listings.
