The Brigade of Guards

An Illustrated History of the Embroidered Silk Postcards is the standard reference book on embroidered silk postcards. It contains references to over 2600 different cards with over 270 illustrations. The section on The Brigade of Guards lists 12 cards. The cards listed below are additional cards discovered since the book was published. The latest additions are shown in RED.


The five regiments of Foot Guards are the elite Infantry Regiments in the British Army and together make up the Brigade of Guards. They perform a protective role for the monarch which includes ceremonial duties, as well as an operational role. The five regiments are: the Coldstream Guards, the Grenadier Guards, the Irish Guards, The Scots Guards and the Welsh Guards.
