Medals
An Illustrated History of the Embroidered Silk Postcards is the standard reference book on embroidered silk postcards. It contains references to over 2600 different cards with over 270 illustrations. The section on Medals lists 20 cards. The cards listed below are additional cards discovered since the book was published. The latest additions are shown in RED.
Embroidered silk postcards with a medal as the principal design feature form a distinct and novel category of Greetings Cards. They have a British, French or German medal embroidered onto the silk panel of the card. Most of the images are of French single medals, though there are combinations of French medals. All medal cards date from the First World War period.
Embroidered silk postcards with medal designs are hard to find and some are very rare. Few new cards have been discovered to add to the listing in my book.
Images of a representative selection of cards are shown beneath the listings.
