Seasonal Cards
An Illustrated History of the Embroidered Silk Postcards is the standard reference book on embroidered silk postcards. It contains references to over 2600 different cards with over 270 illustrations. There is no section in the book on Seasonal Greetings Cards, so the cards listed on this site represent the only reference source. The latest additions are shown in RED.
Embroidered silk postcards made to celebrate the various seasons of the year comprise one of the largest sections of cards available. This website is the only full reference for these cards as they have never been described in detail in any other publication. Cards include sentimental and patriotic types, some with elaborate designs and others with simple flag or floral designs. This page has separate sections for Better Designs and Other Designs.
Christmas cards make up the largest group of Seasonal Cards, and there are cards also for New Year, Valentine's Day, Easter, the 1st of April, Springtime and Mayday, Whitsuntide, Valentine's Day and Thanksgiving. A massive number of French cards were produced for New Year greetings with the caption "Bonne Annee". Most of these are simple floral designs and it has been impossible to document them, so only the Better Designs are listed.
