MYP Technology Check List
Use the checklist for each criterion in order to be sure that you have completed everything needed to get a good grade in each of them.
Criterion A Investigate
Identify the Problem:
o I have described the problem as I understood it
o I have described why the problem is important and related it to society
o I have described how and why solving this problem relates to the Areas of Interaction
o I have described appropriate questions (at least 4) that will guide my investigation
Some of the questions to consider are:
o How could I present my product?
o Who will my client(s) be?
o What does the client want?
Develop the Design Brief:
o I have described the design brief and what I am going to do to solve the problem
o I have researched the problem consistent with my guiding questions and design brief
o It is clear from my research what I have learned from my investigation
o I have organised my research in a proper format
o I have included references to the sources of information in my answers (footnotes) and bibliography in the proper format
o I have evaluated my sources of information
Design Specification:
o I have concluded the investigation by formulating design specifications. I have included a table of essential and desirable characteristics. I have detailed a design specification that my product must meet.
o I have designed and explained tests which I will use in order to test my finished product against my design specifications.
Criterion B Design
o I have included a variety of designs
o I have explained all parts of my design
o I have used many techniques for explaining my designs such as storyboards, sketches, and labelled diagrams
o I have evaluated each design critically against the design specification
o I have justified the selection of my final design
o I have evaluated my performance in the design phase of the project
Criterion C Plan
o I have included a timeline
o I have included a step-by-step plan
o I have included evidence about my planning for materials, tools, resources, etc
o I have critically evaluated my time plan and have tried to answer the following questions: Was the plan sufficiently detailed and why was this the case? Could my plan be followed by somebody else and why? Have I used all of the resources available to me?
o I have justified any modifications to my design
Criterion D Create
Make the product and show evidence of the following:
o I have made dated journal entries in my process journal
o I have explained the tools and techniques used in the process of creation
o I have justified any changes made to my plan in my creation phase
o I have included screenshots and/or photographic evidence in the process of creation
o I have made notes regarding any change
o I have kept notes in my process journal regarding how well I worked, problems encountered and use of time
Criterion E Evaluate
o I have included the feedback received from my testers in proper format
o I have analysed the results of my questionnaire if any were used for testing my product
o I have included a detailed evaluation of my own performance at each stage of the design cycle by discussing strengths and weaknesses of each stage
o I have compared my predicted time plan with the actual timings and gave reasons for changes
o I have included a discussion of the impact of my product on me, others and the environment.
o Relation of product to area of interaction
Criterion F Attitudes in Technology
o I have displayed enthusiasm, motivation, and initiative in completing this project
o I have worked well both inside and outside of class
o I have met all deadlines
