Vygotsky

Vygotsky is a very important educationalist whose ideas have helped educators understand the importance of learning and constructing knowledge with one's peers.

Zibda: All learning and language is socially constructed by a desire to fit into the context or culture. Learning is a socially driven process. Knowledge and intelligence are culturally defined. He is a contemporary of Piaget, but his work did not make it out of Russia until the 1970's.
