Presentation Skills Seminar-Learnshop

Overview:
There will be 30 participants in the seminar-learnshop, 15 medical specialty residents and 15 hospital managers.
The seminar-learnshop consists of a pre-seminar-learnshop independent study and preparation for a presentation to be done on October 29, 2012; lecture by the facilitator (ROJoson) on October 29, 2012; and then a verbal presentation aided by digital slides by all registered participants. There will be critiquing of the presentation of the participations using evaluation checklists.
Terminal Learning Objectives:
At the end of the seminar-learnshop, all the registered participants must be able to demonstrate skills in:
Preparing for and in delivering a formal presentation aided by digital slides.
Demonstrate a step-by-step accomplishment of essential tasks needed in preparing for a presentation.
Demonstrate ability to create proper digital slides to be used for presentation.
Demonstrate ability to deliver a powerful presentation using the following criteria: verbal delivery - clarity and understandability of contents; use of digital slides - clear and clean; achievement of objectives of presentation.
Using the basic service management processes (for hospital managers).
Using the basic patient management processes (for medical specialty residents).
Enabling Learning Objectives:
(For hospital managers) Study and learn the basic service management processes of planning, implementing and evaluation. Apply them in the work place and then prepare a report of an actual event or project managed. Present a 6-minute report aided by digital slides to a group of audience. [Integrate this to Nos. 3 to 6 below.]
(For medical specialty residents) Study and learn the basic patient management processes in making a clinical diagnosis; in deciding on a paraclinical diagnostic procedure; and in selecting a treatment procedure. Apply them in the work place and then prepare a report of an actual patient managed. Present a 6-minute report aided by digital slides to a group of audience. [Integrate this to Nos. 3 to 6 below.]
Know the different kinds of presentation, objectives, parts, usual contents and quality parameters.
Know the various steps in preparing for a presentation.
Know the do’s and don’ts in creating word, table and picture slides that are commonly used in medical and non-medical presentations.
Given samples of word, table and picture slides commonly used in medical and non-medical presentations, using the general criteria of clear and clean, determine which are considered unwanted ones and, therefore, should be avoided. Corollary to this, determine which ones are preferred based on the criteria of clear and clean.
Prepare and present a 6-minute presentation in consideration of the requirements for clear and clean digital slides. [Integrate this to Nos. 1 and 2 above.]
