NoRedInk.com is a website that allows students to practice their literacy and grammar skills. Students are able to choose topics they're interested in, and then they can practice their skills with content of that genre. Teachers are able to assign practice for specific skills, differentiate the reading levels, and receive instant data about their students. They can see what concepts their students need to practice more and how much time the students have been using the website to practice. This is an incredibly useful website that students enjoy using and provides valuable data for teachers. This is a great resource for ELLs as it allows them to practice at their own pace, the content is catered to the student, and the teacher can adjust the reading level depending on the student. This free website can be used for formative and summative assessment, but for students it seems like a game. From talks with ELL teachers, finding age appropriate reading material that matches older ELL students can be difficult. This allows students to practice more basic skills with genres the students are interested in.
