“Chapter 8: Understanding Second Language Acquisition (SLA)” was a really eye-opening read for me. There was a number of really important concepts mentioned and they usually provided real world examples of how to recognize the situations and how to assist the students in your class. Having those examples is really useful when thinking about experiences in your own class. This is something I can see myself referencing later on when trying to best support an ELL student in my class. This is important for teachers working with ELLs as it provides a broad overview of a number of topics related to language acquisition. This is a great starting point when trying to find strategies to best help ELLs and to use as a reference for further research.
