Artifact 10- Module 5

The Capacity Building Series article "Culturally Responsive Pedagogy" is about why equity and cultural inclusion are important for creating a safe and welcoming classroom. This article explains why cultural awareness can help better foster a supportive classroom, school, and community. I chose this article because I think it provided a lot of useful information about how a teacher or school can take steps to creating a culturally responsive space. This is important when working with ELLs as it is essential that all students feel welcomed and included. As many of the modules have indicated in this course, understanding ELLs cultures and previous education experience can be valuable ways to cater lessons that celebrate the diversity of the classroom. Initiatives that encourage inclusivity are important for all students, and can also be a helpful resources for teachers with students new to the country.
