Learn how to create your own glass murine in the torch and use them to decorate your hot glass creations. Murine are made from patterned glass canes that are sliced into small tiles. Murrine is made by precisely layering molten colored glass, then stretching the glass into canes which are cut in cross-sections to reveal the beautiful colours and patterns of the murrine.
We will explore different murine patterns, use simple tools to help create them including traditional optic molds from Murano and then explore different methods for applying them to hot glass beads and sculptures and/or use them in other art work (e.g. mosaics, beadwork, slumping and fusing).
You’ll end up with several murine to take with you, the principles for creating your own and tips for cutting them.
