Ants and other bugs
Shimmering dragonfly
Snails on the move
Hooty owl
Combine up-cycled components, wire, glass, beads and copper to create a unique piece of garden art. We'll explore techniques (including wire wrapping glass) to join components together and use unique pieces of handblown lampwork glass and glass beads to create garden birds and bugs Pop them in the garden or a pot plant, hang them in trees, make a wind chime from them or let them indoors.
The final look of the art will depend on the components chosen on the day.
TECHNIQUES: We will look at basic wire wrapping techniques, wire coiling and how to use beads and other components to create small 3D sculptures. We will go through the steps for creating an owl, an ant, a snail and a dragonfly. Each little sculpture will introduce you to a new technique building on what you have learnt in the previous one. You can then use the techniques to create your own birds and bugs.
KITS: Included in the workshop fees will be all the components needed to make an owl, ant, snail and dragon fly featuring handmade lampwork glass.
SKILL LEVEL: No prior experience necessary.
FEES: $80.00 per person.
