INSPIRATIONS: Xmas lantern was inspired by traditional Christmas tree ornaments from Europe in the mid-1800s.
SKILL LEVEL: This is not a project for beginning beaders. Some experience of beadweaving is strongly recommended.
STITCHES: Basic knowledge of Peyote stitch is assumed. The following techniques are used:
circular, flat stitch Peyote stitch
odd-count flat Peyote stitch
zipping up a Peyote tube
embellishing peyote stitch.
Several components are made individually and then joined together to create the ornament.

Beads: Size 11/0 Delica beads: Colour A – Approximately 10 gramsSize 11/0 Delica beads: Colour B – Approximately 5 gramsSize 11/0 Delica beads: Colour C – Approximately 5 grams8 mm faceted crystal rondelles – 53 mm round embellishment beads - 603-4 mm lentil beads (or 'O' beads)- 20OPTIONS
