INSPIRATIONS: Netted bezels were a response to too many gemstone cabochons in my collection - I wanted a new way to use them.
SKILL LEVEL: Suitable for beginning beadweavers, those new to the stitch or those wanting a refresher.
STITCHES: This project uses circular netting stitch. You will learn to create a netted beaded bezel for a cabochon or other round and/or oval object such as a vintage button that can be used to make a pendant.
REQUIREMENTS LIST
Size 11/0 Czech seed beads in two colors of your choice.Selecting an object to bezelChoose a rounded or oval object with a flat back that you wish to bezel – it may be a button, a gemstone, a coin, etc. Selecting beadsNetted bezels can be made using a variety of bead sizes. This tutorial uses size 11/0 seed beads. Choose bead colours and finishes that will complement your chosen cabochon. As a general rule, the small the object, the smaller the beads you should use. When you first make a netted bezel it is best to use two contrasting bead colours so that you can readily follow the thread path for each round of netting.KIT: A kit is available for this project. Please discuss colour preferences with Glenda. $15.00
